The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has threatened to resume its protest mode following a Supreme Court order that refused to grant blanket immunity to all protesters. Calling the verdict an 'uninformed order' that is wholly unacceptable, the party claimed the direction contradicts assurances given by the Government of India on 25th July promising that all FIRs would be withdrawn and no peaceful protester would be targeted.
While the Supreme Court ordered the release of protesters with no prior criminal record, it allowed investigation into those responsible for violence. Protesters argued that the government must stand by its commitment to withdraw all FIRs.
