(Reuters/File Image) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday chaired the second high-level meeting with Secretaries to the Government of India at his residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, reviewing the future action agenda of ministries and departments dealing with finance and economy, commerce and industry, and technology sectors. The meeting focused on accelerating progress towards the government’s Viksit Bharat vision and assessing priorities across key sectors. PM Calls For Greater Coordination Across Ministries During the meeting, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of team building and urged officials to work with a shared sense of purpose. He called for dismantling both horizontal and vertical silos within the government to ensure ministries and departments function in close coordination and deliver integrated outcomes.

Emphasising citizen-centric governance, PM Modi said the interests and aspirations of ordinary Indians must remain at the heart of policymaking. “The people of India must remain at the centre of governance," he said, adding that every policy decision should be guided by citizens’ welfare and expectations. Push For Indigenous Technology and Energy Security The Prime Minister noted that while India is making significant investments in infrastructure development, equal emphasis must be placed on building indigenous technological capabilities. He underlined the importance of technological self-reliance in critical sectors and strengthening domestic innovation. PM Modi also highlighted the strategic significance of energy security, describing it as closely linked to national security, economic stability and public welfare. He stressed that India must pursue self-reliance in the energy sector through innovation, diversification and rapid capacity expansion. Reforms Must Continue, Says PM Calling reforms a continuous necessity rather than a temporary agenda, the Prime Minister urged ministries to focus on improving processes, strengthening institutional efficiency and enhancing work culture across government departments.

He said governance systems must remain agile and responsive to emerging challenges. Focus on Cybersecurity With the growing adoption of digital technologies, PM Modi emphasised the need to strengthen cybersecurity infrastructure and remain vigilant against evolving cyber threats. He called for greater participation by young innovators and entrepreneurs in the cybersecurity ecosystem and said cybersecurity should evolve into a nationwide movement. The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of proactive communication in strategic sectors where major national initiatives are underway, saying timely outreach is essential to counter misinformation and unfounded concerns. Industry-Academia Collaboration Highlighting the changing needs of the economy, PM Modi said new academic programmes should be designed in partnership with industry to equip students and professionals with skills required by emerging and future industries. He also observed that governments must remain youthful, dynamic and forward-looking, continuously adapting to new opportunities through innovation and flexibility. Secretaries Review Sectoral Priorities The meeting featured detailed presentations and discussions by Secretaries on progress, priorities and implementation challenges across their respective ministries and departments.
