In this episode of India First with Gaurav Sawant, the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has threatened to resume nationwide protests following an interim order by a Supreme Court bench led by Chief Justice of India Suryakant. While the court directed that no coercive action be taken against students, it permitted the government to proceed with existing FIRs and investigations.
CJP spokesperson Saurav Das stated on social media that direction number four contradicts guarantees given by the government on 25 July 2026 regarding the withdrawal of FIRs for peaceful protesters. The CJP expressed apprehension that the order could be weaponized to harass protesters. India Today's Amit Bharadwaj reported that CJP leadership fears delays in handing over FIR lists and suspects state governments could use the sub judice matter as an excuse to continue legal actions, despite states like Assam, Bihar, and Maharashtra announcing FIR withdrawals.
