Guruvayur Devaswom chairman A.V. Gopinath has said the Devaswom would strictly implement all directives issued by the Kerala High Court in connection with the audit of the temple administration and undertake corrective measures wherever required. Gopinath said the Devaswom viewed the High Courtās observations with utmost seriousness and would examine all the issues flagged by the court in detail. āWe will implement all the directions issued by the High Court in letter and spirit.
The observations will be examined thoroughly and necessary corrective measures will be taken,ā he said in a statement. HC observations The High Court had recently made significant observations on deficiencies in the Devaswomās audit mechanisms. It also took serious note of an audit finding that no annual physical verification of the templeās valuable assets had been carried out for the past 43 years. Responding to the concerns, Mr. Gopinath maintained that all financial and administrative affairs of the Guruvayur Devaswom were being conducted transparently.
āAll affairs of the Guruvayur Devaswom are transparent. The three keys to the locker where the templeās gold and other valuable articles are kept are held separately by the temple Tantri, the Ooralan and the Devaswom administrator. These keys are never exchanged under any circumstances. Therefore, there is no cause for concern regarding the safety of the templeās valuables,ā he said. Gopinath said the Devaswom administration was fully prepared to implement the reforms suggested by the court and provide all information sought by it.
He added that the Devaswom would fully cooperate with the court in introducing administrative and technological reforms to address shortcomings in the audit system and further enhance transparency in digital transactions.
