Critical engine components used on Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX aircraft will now be repaired in Hyderabad after GMR Aero Technic signed a licence agreement with Honeywell Aerospace, strengthening the country’s aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities. Under the agreement, GMR Aero Technic will undertake maintenance, repair and overhaul of seven Honeywell aerospace line replaceable units (LRUs) installed on LEAP engines that power the Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX fleets.
The work will include complete disassembly, inspection, repair, reassembly and functional testing of critical engine control systems. The collaboration is expected to reduce the turnaround time for airlines by enabling repairs within the region instead of sending components overseas. The companies said the partnership would also improve service quality while providing more cost-effective repair solutions for airline operators in India and neighbouring markets.
