The Supreme Court, in an interim order, refused to grant blanket immunity or a uniform withdrawal of FIRs against protesters, directing the release of only those without a criminal record and ordering no coercive action until the next hearing. Notices were issued to Maharashtra, Bihar, Assam, West Bengal, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh, with Maharashtra, Bihar, and Assam having already withdrawn FIRs.
However, the protesters' group, CJP, rejected the apex court's ruling, maintaining that they will accept nothing short of the release of all detainees. CJP demanded a written assurance from the central government fulfilling its earlier promise made by ministers to withdraw all FIRs registered against the protesters.
