(Photo: X/Rekha Gupta) The Delhi government on Tuesday approved the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana, a financial assistance scheme aimed at providing monthly support to eligible women in the national capital. The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. Announcing the decision, Gupta said eligible beneficiaries will receive Rs 2,500 per month under the scheme.
“The Delhi Lakshmi Yojana has been approved by the Cabinet, and the portal for this will be launched on August 1," the Chief Minister said. She added that the government plans to complete the verification process quickly and hopes to release the first instalment to beneficiaries by Raksha Bandhan. Eligibility Criteria Under the proposed guidelines, applicants will be required to submit a self-declaration stating that They have been residents of Delhi for at least 10 years. They do not have any criminal record. The government is expected to issue detailed operational guidelines and application procedures when the registration portal goes live. Who Will Not Be Eligible? According to the proposed norms, the following categories of women will not be eligible for benefits under the scheme Women already receiving financial assistance under other government welfare schemes Income ta paying women GST registrants Government employees Women with more than three children Women whose family’s annual electricity consumption exceeds 2,400 units The Delhi government said the scheme is aimed at providing financial support to economically weaker women and ensuring that assistance reaches those most in need.
