Speaking in Parliament on examination malpractices and education reforms, Member of Parliament Tejasvi Surya addressed the issue of paper leaks, describing them as a violation of students' faith. "When paper leak happens, that system is not just an administrative lapse. It is a breach of trust," Surya stated. He outlined the immediate measures taken following the NEET leak, including CBI investigations, arrests, re-conducting NEET in record time, and introducing structural reforms in the Testing Agency.
Surya highlighted key initiatives announced by the Prime Minister, such as transitioning to computer-based examinations akin to IIT JEE and establishing a high-powered committee to reform the entire examination apparatus. Questioning the opposition over why the 2010 Prevention of Malpractices Bill was never passed during UPA rule, Surya argued that a dedicated legal framework was necessary to ensure convictions. He further emphasized that addressing exam system glitches is merely fixing a bug, whereas fundamental educational reform requires fixing the source code.
