Maharashtra has decided to fully withdraw all FIRs registered against students involved in the anti-paper leak protests across Mumbai, Pune, and other cities. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis directed the state home department to initiate the process following the Supreme Court hearing and assurances from the union government that no coercive action would be taken against protesters.
Managing Editor Sahil Joshi reported that while the protests in Maharashtra were largely peaceful, FIRs were initially registered under the BNS for unlawful assembly and raising slogans, alongside multiple detentions and notices. The withdrawal of cases is expected to be completed within a week, offering major relief to the student agitators.
