(AI-generated image/News18) In a chilling case from Chhattisgarh, a 19-year-old woman who was allegedly stabbed multiple times in the neck by her boyfriend helped the police identify her attacker by typing his name on a mobile phone before succumbing to her injuries, leading to the arrest of the accused within hours. The incident took place around 8 pm on Sunday (July 26) at Nehru Park under the Surajpur police station limits. The victim, Radhika Rajwade (19), was allegedly attacked by her boyfriend, Ritesh Rajwade (23), following an argument. According to the police, the accused suspected her of talking to another man, which led to a heated confrontation.
In a fit of rage, Ritesh allegedly pulled out a knife and repeatedly stabbed Radhika in the neck before fleeing the spot on a motorcycle. Bystanders rushed the critically injured woman to the district hospital. She was later referred to Ambikapur Medical College Hospital but succumbed to her injuries on the way. According to The Times of India, despite suffering a deep neck wound, Radhika managed to stagger out of the park in a desperate attempt to seek help before collapsing in a pool of blood. The report said she remained conscious when she reached the hospital but was unable to speak because of the severity of her injuries. Quoting Surajpur Superintendent of Police Yogesh Patel, the report mentioned that when police officers tried to question her, Radhika repeatedly gestured for a mobile phone. Realising she wanted to communicate, officers handed her one, and she allegedly typed the identity of her attacker before she was shifted to the higher medical centre. The report further said that CCTV footage showed the couple spending nearly an hour inside the park before an argument broke out.
Investigators also found that after the alleged attack, the accused believed the victim had died, pulled the knife out of her neck and fled the scene on his motorcycle. How Police Tracked Down the Accused Police examined the crime scene and scanned CCTV footage from Nehru Park and surrounding areas. Multiple teams were formed to trace the accused. According to the police, technical evidence and CCTV footage helped investigators establish the sequence of events. The report mentioned that the victim’s phone records and chats also corroborated the lead obtained from her final communication. Within hours, police tracked down Ritesh Rajwade from a forest in the Pidha area after laying a cordon and arrested him. During preliminary interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to the crime, claiming he suspected the victim of being involved with another man. The accused also reportedly told investigators that he and Radhika had been in a relationship for nearly six years and that he had become upset after she allegedly grew distant. Police, however, were continuing to investigate the exact circumstances surrounding the meeting.
