Students and job seekers from Uttar Pradesh staged a protest rally in Prayagraj on Monday, seeking an investigation into alleged irregularities in the recently held Lekhpal recruitment examination. The protesters, gathered under the banner of âPratiyogi Chhatra Hunkar Manchâ, a platform for competitive recruitment examination aspirants, also demanded a lower cutoff for the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET), timely completion of pending recruitments, transparency in recruitment commissions, including the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC), regular dialogue and comprehensive administrative reforms.
âThe demand for comprehensive reforms in the examination and recruitment system will intensify across the country. Our demands include fair investigation into the Lekhpal paper leak case, implementation of the principle of âminimum cutoff, maximum opportunityâ by reducing the cutoff for PET,â the outfit stated in a release. âProbe July 20 excessesâ It also called for an impartial investigation into the alleged excesses by law enforcement agencies against the participants of the July 20 âChalo Sansadâ march in the national capital.
âWe demand legal action against the culprits, protection of the democratic rights of students staging peaceful protests and ensuring accountability in exam irregularities and paper leak cases at the
national level. The studentsâ movement is not against any individual, but in support of a transparent, fair and accountable exam and recruitment system,â said the Pratiyogi Chhatra Hunkar Manch.
