Bhuvanagiri MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy has backed Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) and its Commissioner A.V. Ranganath, stating that the agency is crucial for protecting Hyderabad’s lakes, ponds, drains, roads and public lands from encroachments.
Referring to reports on the High Court’s directions to relieve him from the Commissioner post, he urged that the services of Mr. Ranganath be retained, describing him as an efficient officer who had acted without political pressure.
The MP claimed that HYDRAA had safeguarded government assets worth over ₹1.5 lakh crore and improved coordination among municipal, police and revenue departments. Alleging that vested
interests and land mafia were opposing the agency, he called on citizens, social activists and NGOs to support HYDRAA and highlight its benefits to Hyderabad’s future.
