An internal Delhi Police report accessed by India Today reveals that 2,873 individuals accused of heinous crimes infiltrated a peaceful students' movement in the national capital. Among these identified through the Facial Recognition System, 989 persons have criminal antecedents, including murder, attempt to murder, dacoity, rape, and offenses under the Arms Act and NDPS Act.
Security forces raised red flags over the presence of habitual and repeat offenders at the protest site where young college students gathered. Police data shows 42 individuals were involved in two or more criminal cases, while 12 faced ten or more cases previously.
