With Mysuru expected to witness a surge in tourist arrivals during Dasara, Narasimharaja MLA Tanveer Sait on Monday called for strict measures to prevent artificial inflation of hotel tariffs and protect visitors from overcharging. Sharing his suggestions at the Dasara Executive Committee meeting here on Monday, Mr. Sait said the State festival should remain inclusive and meaningful. He urged the government to constitute Dasara sub-committees at the earliest, finalise the number of non-official members and appoint them without delay to ensure smooth preparations.
He also proposed setting up help desks at four locations across the city to provide accurate information to visitors, introducing a special tonga service with a fixed fare for those wishing to view the illumination, earmarking separate seating for Gold Pass holders to avoid inconvenience, and initiating parking arrangements well in advance at all event venues. H.D. Kote MLA Anil Chikkamadu requested that members of tribal communities be given a special opportunity on one day to visit the Dasara illumination, Chamundi Hill and the flower show.
He also appealed for organising a Kabini Utsav as part of the Dasara celebrations. Srirangapatna MLA Ramesh Bandisiddegowda pointed out that the State was facing a rainfall deficit and would have to purchase additional electricity. He suggested mobilising sponsorship for the drone show and sought enhanced funding for the illumination committee. MLAs K. Harish Gowda, Darshan Dhruvanarayana, D. Ravishankar and G.D. Harish Gowda, MLCs K. Vivekananda and C.N. Manjegowda, Guarantee Schemes Vice-Chairperson Dr. Pushpa Amarnath, Deputy Commissioner G.
