‘Kala Utsav-2026’ was celebrated at the PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2 in the Belagavi cantonment area on Sunday. The festival featured a wide range of competitions, including instrumental melodic, instrumental rhythmic, solo dance, group dance, theatre, solo visual arts, group visual arts, and traditional storytelling. The participants impressed the judges and audience with their remarkable performances, creativity and artistic excellence. It provided an excellent platform for students to exhibit their artistic and cultural talents while strengthening cultural exchange, mutual understanding and the spirit of unity among Kendriya Vidyalayas, said a release.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from talented students of PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalayas at Machhe, Sambra, Chikkodi, Sadalga, Karwar, Vijayapura and Bagalkot, along with other Kendriya Vidyalayas. The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp before the idol of Goddess Saraswati by principal Mahendra Kalra. This was followed by a prayer and welcome song presented under the guidance of music teachers Santosh Puri and Aarti. Kalra said Kala Utsav was a celebration of India’s rich cultural heritage that provides students with a platform to showcase their talent through Indian classical and folk dances, folk and traditional vocal music, and Indian musical instruments.
“The festival promotes creativity, cultural awareness, self-confidence and the spirit of national integration among students,’’ he said. He encouraged the students to perform with confidence without worrying about winning or losing, uphold the ideals of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, and strive continuously to
fulfil the aspirations of their parents and teachers. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by vice-principal G.K. Vinayagam. Senior Hindi teacher Pushpa Nigam, Vishnu Ningangoud, Bharatesh Bhosage, Kamalakshi Gokavi, Nandkishore Jangid, and other members of the faculty and staff, were present.
