NEET protest at Bengaluru’s Freedom Park sparks political row; FIR registered over controversial posters The protest over NEET question paper leak at Freedom Park in Bengaluru has triggered a political controversy after the Upparpet Police in Bengaluru registered an FIR against a woman for allegedly displaying “provocative posters” during the demonstration. As part of the nationwide agitation against the alleged NEET paper leak, around 1,000 to 1,500 students and members of various organisations gathered at Freedom Park on July 24 to participate in a peaceful demonstration. According to the FIR filed by PSI Sulochana, during the protest organised under the leadership of AISF, a young woman allegedly displayed posters bearing messages referring to Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam, both accused in the 2020 North-East Delhi riots case. One of the posters also allegedly carried a derogatory slogan against Bengaluru police.
The complainant stated that the posters were noticed by police personnel on duty and were immediately seized to prevent any breach of peace. 2. NEET row: Student from Karnataka’s Haveri alleges OMR-sheet mi up, complains to NTA Bindhushree J. Pawar, a NEET UG-2026 aspirant from Hangal in Haveri district has alleged a mi up in OMR sheets. According to the NEET aspirant, she was expecting a score of 663 as per the answer key released by the Testing Agency (NTA) on June 21. But when the results were announced on July 16, she was shocked to find that her score was shown as -11. She also contended that while the OMR sheet sent has her name, roll number and signature, the blackening of the circles to mark the answers did not resemble her style, adding that she had attempted 165 questions while the OMR sheet had just 41 entries.
Bindushree said she had sent a mail to the NTA on July 22 requesting for her original OMR sheet, but there was no reply so far. 3. Final trainset arrives for Bengaluru metro’s Yellow Line; set to boost service frequency Nearly a year after the inauguration of Bengaluru metro’s Yellow Line, the final trainset supplied by Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd. (TRSL) for the corridor reached the Hebbagodi depot in Bengaluru on July 27, 2026. According to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited officials, the si coach train was unloaded before the installation of couplers and gangways, and a detailed inspection. The arrival of the 15th and final trainset is expected to improve services on the 19.75-km Yellow Line. At present, 10 trains are operational, enabling metro services at a peak-hour frequency of around seven minutes and every 10 minutes during non-peak hours.
