In an interview with India Today, Congress Lok Sabha MP Karti Chidambaram questioned the government's approach to the anti-paper leak bill and parliamentary disruptions. Criticizing the legislation, Chidambaram said, "This bill is not reforming anything," arguing that increasing penalties and creating fast-track courts fail to fix systemic issues in the examination process.
He condemned the alleged police firing on protesters demonstrating against paper leaks in Bihar, questioning the use of lethal force on young citizens. Chidambaram challenged the government to issue a clarification on the floor of the House to resolve opposition protests. Furthermore, he highlighted that the Lok Sabha Speaker has not admitted a single adjournment motion during his seven years in Parliament, preventing opposition members from raising urgent matters.
