More than 1,400 people are now known to have died from the Ebola outbreak in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. At least 3,200 confirmed cases have been reported.
The World Health Organization says nearly 90% of all infections have been reported in the northeastern province of Ituri. The outbreak is caused by the Bundibugyo strain of the Ebola virus and has no approved vaccine or treatment.
