Delhi Police released details regarding 2,873 individuals with criminal backgrounds present during violence at a Congress Janta Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar. According to the police press release, 989 of these individuals have antecedents in heinous offenses, including 101 involved in murder, 62 in attempt to murder, 284 in dacoity and robbery, 61 in rape, and six in offenses under the POCSO Act.
Using a face identification system and existing databases, authorities identified habitual repeat offenders at the site. The details were released following a press conference by the CJP claiming that volunteers were being picked up by police.
