An IndiGo flight travelling from Dubai to Mumbai made an emergency landing at Rajkot International Airport on Monday after the pilot noticed smoke. The aircraft landed safely, averting a major mishap, as police, fire brigade personnel and ambulances remained on standby as a precaution. All passengers were safely evacuated from the aircraft.
According to initial information, the pilot contacted Rajkot Air Traffic Control (ATC) after spotting smoke and requested an emergency landing. In May, an IndiGo flight from Hyderabad to Chandigarh was evacuated after smoke filled the cabin following an internal explosion in a passenger's power bank. The aircraft, carrying 198 passengers and six crew members, had landed at Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport and was taxiing to the bay when a passenger alerted the crew about the fire.
Although the cabin crew quickly extinguished the flames, smoke had already spread through the cabin, prompting an emergency evacuation using inflatable slides. One passenger was injured during the evacuation, while all others were safely deplaned. Ends
