The fragile ceasefire between the United States and Iran faces severe strain as both nations continue to exchange military strikes. The United States conducted self-defense strikes on Iranian radar and drone sites in Gorakh and Qeshm. In retaliation, Iran launched strikes on a base allegedly used to attack Sirik Island and vowed to block the Strait of Hormuz. The United States returned a proposed deal to Iran with tougher terms, further complicating negotiations.
Meanwhile, Kuwait intercepted hostile missile and drone attacks, and Saudi Arabia condemned the repeated strikes. In a separate development, Israeli troops seized the nine-hundred-year-old Beaufort Castle in southern Lebanon, marking their first hold on the site since May 2000. The military advancement provides Israeli forces with a strategic vantage point over southern Lebanon and northern Israel, prompting mass evacuations from Beirut. The escalating conflict and uncertainty surrounding the Strait of Hormuz have caused international crude oil prices to surge across Asian and European markets.
