Three minor girls, who went missing from their home in Domalguda in Hyderabad on July 19, were traced safely in Chhattisgarh after a week-long search involving the scrutiny of 262 CCTV cameras and technical surveillance, the city police said. The girls, aged 17, 16 and 15, had left their residence in Fareed Basti during the early hours of July 19. Their family, which had migrated from Chhattisgarh to Hyderabad in May this year for livelihood, lodged a missing complaint after frantic searches failed to locate them.
The police registered a case under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and formed four special teams comprising personnel from the Domalguda police station and the Secunderabad Task Force. Investigators reconstructed the girls’ journey through CCTV footage. The police said the trio left their house at 1.47 a.m., travelled by autorickshaw to Kachiguda Railway Station, then proceeded to Secunderabad Railway Station. After spending several hours moving between the railway station and James Street, they boarded the Dhanapur Express from Secunderabad at around 9 a.m. and reached Nagpur the following evening.
From Nagpur, the girls travelled by bus to Gadchiroli and later to Patanjur village, where they stayed for two days at the house of a person identified as Biswajith. Acting on technical evidence and other investigative leads, a Hyderabad police team, assisted by personnel from Kanker police station in Chhattisgarh, traced and safely rescued the three girls. During questioning, the girls told the police that they had left home voluntarily after being scolded by their parents.
The search was carried out under the supervision of senior officers, with personnel from the Domalguda police station and the Secunderabad Task Force;s participation.
