The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) warned the Centre that it must ensure the release of all detained protesters and withdraw FIRs registered against them across the country, alleging that student activists were being targeted despite assurances given during talks that led to the suspension of its nationwide NEET paper leak agitation. CJP spokesperson Saurav Das said the party had received multiple reports of students and other protesters being detained or arrested in states including Assam, West Bengal and Bihar.

“We are deeply concerned by multiple reports reaching us of students and other protestors being targeted, detained, or arrested by various state agencies, particularly in Assam, West Bengal, and Bihar," Saurav Das said. The CJP claimed it had suspended its nationwide protest only after the Union government assured its leaders that no punitive action would be taken against protesters in BJP- or NDA-ruled states. Calling on the Centre to honour that assurance, Saurav Das urged Union ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh to intervene immediately. “We call upon the Government of India… to immediately honour the assurance given to us by ensuring the release of those detained and by directing that no coercive or retaliatory action is taken against any protestor anywhere in the country.

The FIRs registered ought to be withdrawn too," he said. The party also said the government had committed to providing a written guarantee on the issue by Tuesday. According to the statement, the CJP’s legal team is already working with lawyers in the concerned states to secure the release of those detained and provide legal assistance. Warning of possible escalation, Saurav Das said the government’s credibility depended on keeping its promises and cautioned that any departure from the assurances given would amount to “a breach of trust" not only with the CJP but also with “lakhs of young Indians who chose dialogue over protests." The party demanded that all detainees be released and all FIRs withdrawn by Tuesday, failing which it said it would “take further necessary steps," without elaborating on the nature of its proposed action.
