A political debate has surfaced within Tamil Nadu politics after Minister CTR Nirmal Kumar made pointed remarks about DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin's leadership credentials. Nirmal Kumar suggested that the DMK should hold an internal vote among party functionaries to decide whether Udhayanidhi Stalin has the ability to lead the party or whether MP Kanimozhi would be a better choice.
He said such an exercise would help the party introspect, adding that "everyone knows Udhayanidhi's eligibility." The remarks are likely to intensify the political discourse over leadership within the DMK.
