The win gave India its first gold of the 2026 Games. Despite missing her opening attempts in both lifts, the 31-year-old recovered to finish 22kg ahead of Nigeria’s Ruth Asuquo Nyong (168kg). With gold secured, Mirabai skipped her final lift. Earlier, Rishikanta Singh won silver in men’s 60kg, lifting 264kg after two failed clean and jerk attempts at 143kg.
