Syria's President Ahmad al-Sharaa says his country has no intention of carrying out military intervention in Lebanon, in an exclusive and wide-ranging interview with Al Jazeera. He said Syria is trying to enable the Lebanese state to fulfill its commitments to disarm Hezbollah, while ensuring no major disruption in Lebanon spills over into Syria.
He also addressed the US decision to remove Syria from its list of state sponsors of terrorism, thanking President Trump for the move and saying Syria must be "cleared of all the laws shackling it." On the Golan Heights, al-Sharaa said Syria is open to further discussions with Israel but insisted Israel must withdraw to the 1974 disengagement lines.
He said Syria is taking a non-aggressive stance and is open to talks that could lead to comprehensive peace, without conceding Syria's right to the
