(AFP file photo) The US military on Monday said it intercepted two Iranian ballistic missiles targeting an American base in Kuwait late on Sunday, in a sharp escalation despite ongoing ceasefire efforts in the region.
US Central Command (Centcom) said in a post on X that the missiles were detected and destroyed shortly after being launched, and confirmed there were no personnel were injured in the incident. “These missiles were immediately defeated and no American personnel were harmed. U.S. Central Command remains vigilant and will continue to protect our forces from Iranian aggression while supporting the ongoing ceasefire," it added. Last night at 11 p.m. ET, U.S. forces successfully intercepted two Iranian ballistic missiles targeting American forces based in Kuwait.
