The Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) has withheld the final selection list for the recruitment of veterinary officers after allegations of irregularities in the examination prompted a police case and an internal inquiry. The inquiry comes after India Today reported about it on July 24. The controversy centres on the recruitment of 342 regular posts and 58 backlog vacancies, with candidates alleging that the selection process was manipulated through agents. Read Full Story As part of what they described as a sting operation, the candidates released audio recordings, photographs and videos, including purported conversations involving alleged middlemen, claiming these pointed to irregularities in the recruitment process. VETS STAGE PROTEST Veterinary doctors also staged a protest outside the Vidhana Soudha Police Station, demanding a fair and transparent investigation into the alleged recruitment scam.
The allegations have not been independently verified, and there was no immediate response from the KPSC before its latest statement. In an official release issued on Sunday, the Commission said it had convened an emergency meeting after taking serious note of reports circulating on social media and news platforms regarding the veterinary officers' examination conducted on January 8 and 9, 2026. The KPSC said a complaint had led to the registration of a case at the Vidhana Soudha Police Station on July 24, followed by the registration of an FIR on July 25. COMMISSION ENSURES FAIRNESS Calling itself a constitutional authority entrusted with conducting examinations for state civil services, the Commission said it remained committed to ensuring fairness and transparency in the recruitment process.
Following detailed deliberations, the Commission constituted an internal sub-committee headed by a senior member and comprising three other members to investigate the allegations. The panel has been asked to scrutinise all documents related to the examination and submit a comprehensive report within a week. The Commission has also appointed its Secretary and the Head of its Legal Cell to coordinate with the inquiry and provide administrative and legal assistance. Pending the outcome of the probe, the KPSC has decided to withhold the final selection list for veterinary officers, which had been published on July 17. The Commission said it was treating the allegations and the FIR with the utmost seriousness. BJP DEMANDS COMPREHENSIVE PROBE Karnataka BJP president B.Y. Vijayendra alleged large-scale corruption in the KPSC recruitment of around 400 veterinary doctors and demanded a comprehensive investigation into the alleged scam.
