Russian and Ukrainian strikes killed at least 10 people on Sunday (July 26, 2026), with Kyiv saying Moscow attacked a supermarket in northern Ukraine and Russia accusing Kyiv of striking a bus stop in the occupied east. The strikes come a day after 20 people were killed on both sides of the frontline, with both Kyiv and Moscow intensifying attacks while diplomacy to end the war — launched by Russia in 2022 — is at a deadlock. Kyiv said Moscow attacked a supermarket in the northern city of Chernigiv.

Officials published a photograph of a supermarket building with smoke billowing from it in Chernigiv — which lies close to Belarus and far from the frontline.
Zelenskyy also said Russia had launched ballistic missiles at Kyiv, wounding several people and that Moscow's strikes killed one person in Zaporizhzhia and another in Kharkiv — where officials said Moscow targeted a residential building. "This is deliberate Russian terror with absolutely no military justification," Mr. Zelenskyy said. In Moscow-held Gorlivka, Russian occupational authorities said a Ukrainian drone strike killed four people. Russian-installed local authorities said the strike had hit a bus stop and that seven people were also left wounded. Another person was killed in the occupied part of the Kherson region, Moscow said.
Authorities in Russia's border Belgorod region said one person was killed by a Ukrainian drone in the village of Smorodino. The attacks came a day after Moscow said a Ukrainian strike on an occupied town on the Azov Sea killed 12 people. U.S.-led talks on ending fighting have stalled. The Kremlin occupies swathes of eastern and southern Ukraine and has repeatedly said it intends to seize the rest of east Ukraine by force.
