Published By, Last Updated: July 26, 2026, 19:57 IST The Centre has unveiled the members of the high-powered task force led by Nandan Nilekani, tasked with recommending structural and technology-driven reforms. The panel has been tasked with reviewing the existing examination framework and suggesting measures to enhance transparency. The Centre on Sunday unveiled the members of the expert panel that will recommend structural and technological changes to the functioning of the Testing Agency (NTA). The multidisciplinary task force will be headed by technology expert Nandan Nilekani and has been constituted to recommend comprehensive reforms aimed at making the NTA’s examination process more transparent, secure and technology-driven.

According to the government, the panel will focus on strengthening the examination ecosystem with particular emphasis on the use of technology, institutional reforms and improving the overall credibility of the system. Apart from Nilekani, the task force includes ISRO Chairman S Somanath Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka IIT Madras Director V Kamakoti Higher Education Secretary Anita Karwal Logistics expert Amrit Lal Meena The panel has been tasked with reviewing the existing examination framework and suggesting measures to enhance transparency, accountability and efficiency in conducting national-level entrance examinations. The announcement comes amid the Centre’s push to overhaul the examination system following the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the government wanted an examination system that is “trustworthy, transparent, and make the maximum use of technology", adding that the recommendations of the task force would be implemented to ensure the credibility and reliability of future examinations as quickly as possible.

“The Government of India has continuously taken several major steps for the welfare of students. Those who played with the future of students are now rotting in jails. We have already set up fast-track courts. Tomorrow, in Parliament, we will also move forward with a new law containing stringent provisions," PM Modi said in a video message on Sunday.
