Eighteen-year-old Anahat Singh scripted history on Saturday by becoming India's first-ever junior world squash champion. The Indian sensation clinched the Girls' World Junior Championship title in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada, by defeating Egypt's second seed Ruqaya Salem 11-3, 11-7, and 11-9 in a commanding straight-games women's singles final. This landmark achievement surpassed Joshna Chinappa's runner-up finish in 2005, marking India's highest milestone in the tournament.
Additionally, Anahat became the first non-Egyptian player to win the Girls' World Junior Championship since American Amanda Sobhy in 2010, effectively ending Egypt's 15-year dominance of the sport.
