(AI Image) The Telangana Crime Investigation Department (CID) has busted a major illegal online betting network allegedly linked to the international betting platform Dafabet and arrested 11 people in coordinated raids across Delhi, Gujarat and Punjab. The operation was carried out by the CID’s Special Investigation Team (SIT), which has been probing illegal betting and gambling platforms operating across India.
Officials said the accused were allegedly involved in running and facilitating online betting operations through Dafabet and related networks. During the raids, investigators seized 46 mule bank accounts allegedly used for money laundering, 26 mobile phones,Three luxury vehicles, Digital records and financial transaction details linked to betting operations. According to investigators, the network operated across multiple states and allegedly used bank accounts opened in the names of different individuals to route betting money and conceal transactions. Authorities are examining digital evidence to identify additional operators, financial handlers and possible links to larger interstate betting syndicates. The crackdown comes amid Telangana’s intensified campaign against illegal online betting platforms. Over the past year, the Telangana CID and Cyber Crime authorities have launched multiple investigations into betting apps, social media promotion networks and financial channels used by gambling operators.
Earlier, Telangana CID arrested several betting app operators in raids across multiple states as part of a wider probe into illegal gaming networks. Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police have also taken down hundreds of social media profiles and promoting betting platforms, warning that such networks frequently target users through promises of easy money, referral bonuses and high returns. Authorities say online betting remains illegal in Telangana, but cases continue to rise despite enforcement efforts. According to official data, residents have lost crores of rupees to betting-related frauds in recent years, with operators increasingly using WhatsApp, Telegram, social media and influencer promotions to attract users. The latest Dafabet-linked bust is being viewed as one of Telangana CID’s largest recent operations against online betting networks, and investigators are expected to widen the probe to trace financial flows, digital infrastructure and possible international connections linked to the platform.
