Image used for representation A 37-year-old woman was found dead at her residence in Faridabad’s Sector 7, with her family alleging that she was murdered by her husband, his alleged lover and his parents. The deceased, identified as Savita Tewatia, was found hanging inside her marital home on Sunday. Based on a complaint filed by her family, police have registered a murder case against her husband Sandeep, his parents and a woman alleged to be in a relationship with him. According to police, Savita and Sandeep had been married for around 18 years and lived in Faridabad with their two children.
The couple jointly ran home-based coaching classes for students. Family members of the deceased alleged that Sandeep had developed an illicit relationship with one of the students who attended the coaching classes. They claimed the relationship began when the girl was still a minor and continued even after she started working at a private company. According to the complaint, Savita frequently objected to the relationship, leading to repeated disputes between the couple. Her relatives alleged that tensions over the affair ultimately led to a conspiracy to kill her. Savita’s brother told police that her death was not a case of suicide and accused Sandeep, his alleged lover and his parents of being involved in her murder. The family also claimed that Sandeep has been absconding since the incident.
However, Savita’s father-in-law, retired army officer Captain Surender Kumar, rejected the allegations and described them as baseless. According to him, he, his wife and Sandeep had travelled to Jewar in Uttar Pradesh to attend a relative’s funeral on the day of the incident, while Savita remained alone at home. Construction work was reportedly underway at the residence and a labourer was present at the site. Kumar said he had spoken to Savita twice over the phone during the day. Later, a labourer informed the family that she was not responding. A neighbour was then asked to check on her and allegedly found her hanging inside the house. Police said a case has been registered under murder charges against the husband, his parents and the woman named in the complaint.
Investigators are examining all angles, including the family’s allegations and the circumstances leading to Savita’s death. Further investigation is underway.
