Prime Minister Narendra Modi (Reuters Image) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday shared a new Instagram video announcing the formation of a high-powered task force on examination reforms, to be headed by technology expert Nandan Nilekani, saying the panel would recommend measures to make India’s examination system more transparent, credible and technology-driven. In a video message posted on Instagram, the Prime Minister said the government has already taken several steps to protect students’ interests following the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak and stressed that reforms would now focus on strengthening the examination system for the future. “The Government of India has continuously taken several major steps for the welfare of students. Those who played with the future of students are now rotting in jails. We have already set up fast-track courts. Tomorrow, in Parliament, we will also move forward with a new law containing stringent provisions," Modi said.

He said the government was now looking beyond immediate action and working towards long-term structural reforms. Our examination system should be trustworthy, transparent, and make the maximum use of technology. Keeping all these aspects in mind, we have decided to constitute a high-powered task force under the leadership of globally renowned technology expert Nandan Nilekani to focus on examination reforms," he said. The Prime Minister added that the recommendations of the task force would be implemented to improve the integrity of future examinations. “Based on the recommendations of this task force, we will ensure the credibility and reliability of upcoming examinations as quickly as possible," Modi said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks came a day after Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan stepped down from his post, with Union Minister Pralhad Joshi being entrusted with the additional charge of the Education Ministry. After taking charge as the new education minister, Joshi thanked PM Modi and assured him he will fulfil all responsibilities with dedication.
