The Bengal and Beyond Foundation’s flagship cultural initiative, Chowrangee, organised ‘Monsoon Magic: Rising Stars from Kolkata to Kochi’, a musical concert at Taramati Baradari in Hyderabad on Saturday (July 25). The programme brought together young musicians from across the country, presenting a blend of Hindustani classical, ghazal, folk and contemporary music.
Curated in collaboration with the Green Room Tapes Collective, the concert explored musical traditions from Kolkata to Kochi, combining classical forms with contemporary influences. Organisers said the performances aimed to showcase India’s diverse musical heritage while offering modern interpretations that appealed to audiences across generations. The evening featured vocalist Srinath Nair, along with Rajdeep Mukherjee and Kaanjana Sriram on vocals.
They were accompanied by Sameel Sikkani on tabla, Anurag Rajeev Nayan on guitar, Sumit Jaiswal on bass guitar, Anantharaman Anil on keyboards and sound engineer Sanjai Arakkal. Santanu Paul, president of Chowrangee, said the concert celebrated the diversity of Indian music and the creativity of a new generation of artistes who were reinterpreting tradition while preserving its essence.
The initiative sought to create cultural platforms that brought together different artistic traditions and fostered dialogue across regions, he said.
