Minister for Medical, Health and Family Welfare Satya Kumar Yadav visited the Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital and Research Institute in Hyderabad on Sunday to meet a si year-old girl undergoing treatment for cancer. According to a press release, the girl, S. Chandrika, from Mulakalacheruvu in Annamayya district, has been diagnosed with a malignant tumour below her eye.
Her mother, Vijayamma, a widow, had appealed through the media for financial assistance for her daughter’s treatment. On learning about the child’s condition, and following the directions of Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, Mr. Satya Kumar Yadav requested Nandamuri Balakrishna, Chairman of the Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital and Research Institute, to provide treatment.
The State government is extending financial assistance to support the treatment. The girl will initially undergo wide excision of the lesion with microvascular reconstruction surgery. Further treatment will be decided based on
the surgical findings and subsequent medical evaluation. Satya Kumar Yadav enquired about the child’s condition, reviewed the treatment plan with the doctors and issued necessary directions to ensure the best possible medical care.
