Bharatiya Janata Party leader Champai Soren on Sunday (July 26, 2026) urged the High Court to take suo motu cognisance of alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) examinations and order a CBI probe into all recruitment processes conducted by the two panels over the last few years. "The Jharkhand High Court should take suo motu cognisance of this matter and order a CBI [Central Bureau of Investigation] probe into every single recruitment process conducted by JSSC and JPSC over the last few years," he said. Attacking the JMM-led dispensation, Mr. Soren alleged that government jobs were being "auctioned off" through blacklisted agencies under the patronage of those in power. "The dreams and aspirations of young aspirants are being continuously trampled upon in Jharkhand... Yet, the ruling party members sit in silence, as if nothing has happened at all," the BJP MLA alleged.

Soren said the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) probing the matter was aimed at "trapping small fish to shield big players". "If one looks at the history of the CID under this government, it becomes clear that their entry into any case is solely for the purpose of trapping small fish and shielding the big players. From the liquor scam to countless other such cases, everything points in this direction," Mr. Soren claimed. "When relatives of those at the top echelons of power are themselves sitting on JPSC interview panels and deceiving the youth about their future, how can we expect fairness or transparency from this government?" Mr. Soren added.

He expressed doubt about the impartiality of the investigation by the state CID when the "JPSC chairman has been found mired in corruption and several employees are under arrest". "In any case, expecting justice from those who remain silent on the deaths of nearly one-and-a-half dozen aspirants during a physical test to recruit excise constables would be sheer folly," Mr. Soren added.
