A 20-year-old student pursuing higher education in the United States died after his car skidded on a slippery road and plunged into an open drain in Delhi's Vasant Kunj on Friday morning. The victim, Yashvindra, the son of an Indian Army officer, drowned after getting stuck inside the overturned vehicle. His female co-passenger sustained serious injuries and was rescued.
Eyewitnesses and local reports pointed to civic negligence, highlighting that the massive drain at a sharp turn was left uncovered, streetlights were absent, and dumped sewer water made the road slippery. Delhi Police stated that initial investigations revealed high speed and road slipperiness as factors, with no foul play detected.
