(X/@JoshiPralhad) A day after being given the additional charge of the Union Education Ministry, Pralhad Joshi formally assumed office on Saturday and chaired his first review meeting with senior officials to assess the implementation of the ministry’s flagship schemes and ongoing initiatives. The Ministry of Education, in a post on X, said Joshi took charge at Kartavya Bhavan in New Delhi. The meeting was attended by Union Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary, secretaries of both departments under the ministry, and other senior officials. The review marked Joshi’s first official engagement after replacing Dharmendra Pradhan, who resigned as Union Education Minister amid nationwide protests over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak.
Joshi Promises Dedicated Leadership Soon after assuming charge, Joshi thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for entrusting him with the responsibility and said he would discharge his duties with dedication and humility. “The Prime Minister has placed his trust in me and has entrusted me with such a significant responsibility. With complete humility and a strong sense of responsibility, I will fulfil this duty… I thank the Prime Minister for giving me this important responsibility and for showing such great confidence in me. Under his guidance and leadership, I will work sincerely and try my best to meet his expectations in this department. With full dedication, humility, and honesty, I will work towards fulfilling this responsibility," Joshi said. Today, I assumed charge as the Union Minister for Education.I am grateful to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji for placing his faith in me and entrusting me with this responsibility. In the last four to five years, Dharmendra Pradhan also implemented the Education Policy, and several important initiatives were undertaken. The country has made significant progress in the new education system. Under the guidance of the Prime Minister, I will work to the best of my ability and fulfil my responsibilities with dedication," he said. Pradhan Resigned Amid NEET Protest Pradhan resigned on Friday, saying he had taken the decision in the interest of students and to ensure that protests over examination irregularities were not exploited by “anti-national forces." His resignation came after weeks of demonstrations over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak, following which the Centre appointed Joshi to lead the Education Ministry in addition to his existing portfolios.
