A 36-year-old businessman has filed a complaint with the Central CEN Police alleging that he was cheated of ₹1.21 lakh in an online investment scam
A 36-year-old businessman has filed a complaint with the Central CEN Police alleging that he was cheated of ₹1.21 lakh in an online investment scam operated through a gaming platform. According to the complaint, the victim was contacted via WhatsApp on April 3 by two individuals identified as Vishal Monga and Chetan Bhimaray.
The suspects allegedly persuaded him to invest money through an application called World777, claiming that the investment amount would be doubled and that substantial profits would be generated. The complainant stated that he was instructed to log in to the website World777.now and transfer money to various bank accounts.
Believing the promises, he allegedly transferred a total of ₹1,21,000 in multiple transactions between April 3, 2026, and June 10, 2026, using his Kotak Mahindra Bank and Axis Bank accounts. However, after receiving the funds, the accused allegedly failed to return the invested amount or pay the promised profits.
Realising that he had been defrauded, the victim approached the Central CEN Police and lodged a complaint seeking legal action against the accused. A case has been registered, and further investigation is under way to trace the accused and recover the cheated amount.
