Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday issued one of India’s strongest warnings to Pakistan in recent months, saying any future “misadventure" by the neighbouring country would invite a response “beyond their imagination." Speaking at the 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas commemoration at the Kargil War Memorial in Dras, Ladakh, Singh also reiterated that India would hold no dialogue with Pakistan except on the issue of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). “There will be no talks with Pakistan other than on PoK, a part of India that was illegally occupied," the defence minister said, reaffirming the Centre’s long-standing position on bilateral engagement.

The time has passed when those in Delhi did not prioritize… pic.twitter.com/20rl1Ejupd— ANI (@ANI) July 26, 2026 Referring to Operation Sindoor, Singh said the military operation had sent a clear message to those who support or sponsor terrorism. “Operation Sindoor showed what will be the fate of those who indulge in terrorism," he said, adding that India’s response to terrorism has become decisive and uncompromising. ‘India Builds Data Centres, Pakistan Creates Radical Centres’ Launching a sharp attack on Pakistan, Singh contrasted the development trajectories of the two countries. “India is building data centres, while Pakistan is creating radical centres," he said, asserting that New Delhi is focused on technology, innovation and economic growth, whereas Pakistan continues to nurture extremism.

‘No Shortage of Political Will’ Highlighting the government’s approach to national security, Singh said India’s armed forces have always possessed the capability to defend the country, but what was lacking in the past was political resolve. “It is not that our armed forces lacked capability earlier. They were powerful then as well. The only thing that was lacking was political will. Today, there is no shortage of political will in the Central Government, nor will there be in the future," he said. He added that the current government has given the armed forces complete freedom to take decisive action whenever required in the interest of national security. Tribute to Kargil Heroes Recalling the courage of soldiers during the 1999 Kargil War, Singh invoked Captain Vikram Batra’s famous slogan, “Yeh Dil Maange More," describing it as a symbol of the fearless spirit of India’s armed forces. “The whole world should understand this, and our neighbour should also understand this," he said.
