Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday drew a sharp contrast between India's growing focus on innovation and development, and Pakistan's continued support for cross-border terrorism. Addressing a gathering in Ladakh's Dras on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, he said, "India is building data centres, while Pakistan is building radicalisation centres. While India is connecting the world through UPI, Pakistan is connecting terrorism through hawala." Read Full Story Singh further said that Pakistan is busy nurturing its terror ecosystem, as India fosters a culture of startups. He added, "While India is manufacturing semiconductors, Pakistan is producing suicide bombers." Moreover, he highlighted India's achievements in the space domain, saying, "While India is sending satellites into space, Pakistan remains engaged in sending terrorists across the border.
While India is providing software to the world, Pakistan is supplying terror." The Defence Minister also cautioned Pakistan to refrain from any misadventures meant to hinder India's progress. "Our paths are different. If Pakistan attempts to obstruct our progress through its nefarious designs, our brave armed forces are fully prepared to give a befitting reply." He further reiterated the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government's policy that any dialogue with Islamabad will only be regarding Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), which he emphasised is a part of India. ARMY HONOURS KARGIL HEROES Singh, who arrived in Dras on Saturday, presided over the 'Shradhanjali Samaroh' (wreath-laying ceremony) at the Kargil War Memorial as the chief guest.
The Indian Army hosted a 'Shaurya Sandhya' at the war memorial during the day, honouring the indomitable courage displayed by the Indian soldiers during Operation Vijay in 1999 and paying rich tributes to the fallen heroes. The Defence Minister participated in the solemn event and also handed a ceremonial kalash to some of the family members of Army personnel who laid down their lives in the Kargil conflict. The Army is hosting a series of events in Dras to mark the 27th anniversary of Operation Vijay. The occasion marks the glorious victory in 1999 when Indian soldiers, braving snow-clad peaks and relentless firing by Pakistani troops, reclaimed the heights of Kargil.
