He said the DMK had opposed NEET since 2010 and had even introduced legislation seeking its removal, but the bill did not receive assent. Wilson said the minister’s resignation was a correct move and that the students’ concerns had been acknowledged.
However, he stressed that the resignation was not enough and said NEET must be completely abolished. Responding to Rahul Gandhi’s demand for a Prime Minister’s apology, Wilson said he would not comment on the Congress’s position but reiterated that the NEET system must be removed.
