China’s Meteorological Centre (NMC) had issued a red alert, the highest warning in its four-tier typhoon alert system, before landfall. 2. Powerful Winds And Heavy Rain Before making landfall, the typhoon’s centre was located about 100 km southeast of Huidong County in Guangdong’s Huizhou City. It packed maximum sustained winds of Force 14 and was moving northwest at around 20 kmph. 3. More Than 3.4 Lakh People Evacuated Authorities evacuated over 340,000 residents from Guangdong province as a precaution ahead of the storm. Emergency responses for floods and typhoons were also upgraded in several provinces. 4. Hong Kong Hit By Major Travel Disruptions As Noul approached, Hong Kong raised its storm warning to Typhoon Signal No. 9, indicating a very serious threat.

More than 410 flights and 150 high-speed train services were cancelled, while authorities opened 28 temporary shelters. 5. Flooding Fears Persist Although the storm began weakening after moving inland, weather officials warned of intense rainfall and the risk of flash floods. Rainfall exceeding 30 mm per hour had already been recorded in parts of Hong Kong. 6. Third Typhoon To Hit China This Month Noul, whose name means “the glow of sunrise or sunset" in Korean, is the 12th typhoon to form in the Pacific this year and the third to make landfall in China this month.
