Just two days before being named Interim Education Minister, Pralhad Joshi spoke exclusively to NDTV about the NEET paper leak controversy, the government's response, and the future of India's examination system. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was "extremely sensitive" about students' futures and claimed that everyone responsible for the paper leak had been arrested. Joshi also highlighted the Centre's anti-paper leak law, saying it provides for up to 10 years' imprisonment and a ₹1 crore penalty, with fast-track courts to ensure quicker justice.
During the interview, Joshi defended the government's handling of the crisis, stating that the NEET re-exam and results were completed within 40 days. He accused the Opposition of shifting its focus from demanding a debate to seeking the Education Minister's resignation, invited all parties to strengthen the anti-paper leak law further, and asserted that the Modi government had made medical admissions merit-based and transparent.
