Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) Executive Director H. Prasanna Kumar on Saturday urged students to pursue discipline, perseverance and merit as the cornerstones of academic success, asserting that sustained hard work and a positive mindset determine success in competitive examinations and admission to premier institutions. He was addressing a felicitation programme at Sri Channabasaveshwara Gurukul Science PU College in Karadyal in Bhalki taluk of Bidar district, where students who excelled in JEE Main and JEE Advanced and secured admission to IITs and NITs were felicitated. Kumar said sustained hard work is the only path to achieving excellence in competitive examinations and securing admission to premier institutions such as the IITs and NITs.
He observed that financial resources or ownership of educational institutions alone cannot guarantee admission to a preferred college or course. “Students must earn their seats through merit by performing well in competitive examinations and qualifying through the counselling process,” he said. Kumar urged the students to cultivate a positive mindset and avoid negative thinking. He noted that two years of dedicated preparation can transform an ordinary student into an extraordinary achiever. “God has bestowed equal potential on everyone. Those who work harder achieve greater success, while those who put in less effort are likely to fall behind,” he said, stressing that perseverance and commitment are the defining factors in academic success.
He also praised the Gurukul institution for providing value-based education, discipline and a conducive learning environment, stating that such an atmosphere plays a significant role in shaping students into successful individuals. Congratulating the students on their achievements, Mr. Kumar encouraged them to continue striving for excellence and make the most of the opportunities earned through their hard work. Hiremath seer Guru Basava Pattaddevaru attributed the educational transformation of the region to the vision and unwavering commitment of his guru, Basavalinga Pattaddevaru, whose efforts laid the foundation for quality education in an area that had long remained educationally backward. He recalled that Pattaddevaru had aspired to become a teacher, but his spirit of service, humility and leadership led Channabasava Pattaddevaru to appoint him as the head of the Hiremath institution, enabling him to serve society through both education and spiritual guidance.
