RB Leipzig Reject Real Madrid As Yan Diomande Transfer Race Intensifies - Report Published By, Last Updated: July 25, 2026, 22:07 IST RB Leipzig have rejected Real Madrid's £85.4m bid for teenage winger Yan Diomande, with Liverpool, PSG, Arsenal and Manchester City all still in the race. Rapid Read RB Leipzig's Yan Diomande (AFP) Real Madrid have made their move for one of Europe’s most sought-after young talents, but RB Leipzig have made it clear that prising Yan Diomande away won’t be easy. The Bundesliga club have rejected Madrid’s opening offer worth £85.4 million for the 19-year-old Ivory Coast winger. The proposal included an initial £76.9m fee with a further £8.5m in performance-related add-ons, but Leipzig remain unmoved as the race for Diomande’s signature gathers pace. The rejection comes amid growing interest from several European heavyweights, with Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal and Manchester City all monitoring the teenager’s situation.
Real Madrid Enter The Race Madrid’s interest significantly changes the complexion of the transfer saga. The Spanish giants have been one of Europe’s busiest clubs since Jose Mourinho returned for a second spell as head coach, already bringing in Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries and Marc Cucurella. They are also exploring further reinforcements in attack amid uncertainty surrounding Vinicius Junior’s future. Diomande has emerged as a priority target. The Athletic previously reported that Madrid were looking for a right-sided attacker, even though Brahim Diaz remains keen to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu. Liverpool have also approached Leipzig but are unwilling to exceed £85m for the winger. PSG, meanwhile, remain admirers of the Ivory Coast international, who is understood to have favoured a move to the French champions. However, the Parisian club have yet to table an offer capable of convincing Leipzig to sell.
With six weeks remaining in the transfer window, sources continue to describe the situation as an open race. Leipzig Standing Firm Leipzig have little intention of cashing in this summer. The German club value Diomande closer to €130 million and are simultaneously trying to tie him to a new long-term contract, despite his current deal already running until 2030. “Our clear intention is that Yan Diomande will play for RB Leipzig next year," sporting director Marcel Schäfer said. After arriving from Leganés just a year ago, Diomande enjoyed a breakout campaign, scoring 12 Bundesliga goals and adding nine assists in 33 appearances as Leipzig finished third and qualified for the UEFA Champions League. He also featured in all four of Ivory Coast’s matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, further boosting his reputation as one of world football’s brightest young wingers.
