Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned from his post, taking responsibility for the ongoing NEET examination crisis following 49 days of student protests at Jantar Mantar and across the country. In a statement posted on social media, Pradhan stated he submitted his resignation to the Prime Minister to protect the future of India's youth and prevent exam malpractices.
Student activists, including activist Sonam Wangchuk, celebrated the move at protest sites. Following discussions between negotiators and Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh, the government accepted key demands, including student compensation and the withdrawal of police cases, leading leaders to officially call off the agitation.
