Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has announced his resignation on social media platform X, taking responsibility for the NEET examination crisis. The announcement preceded a meeting at the Constitution Club involving Union Ministers Dr. Jitendra Singh and JP Nadda alongside Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) representatives Saurabh Das and Ashutosh Ranka. Following the resignation, the CJP called off its 37-day student protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi after reaching an agreement with central government representatives.
In a joint press interaction, officials confirmed that the key demands were accepted, including the withdrawal of all FIRs registered against student protesters across Delhi and other states, alongside monetary compensation for the families of students who died by suicide due to NEET paper leaks. The government assured CJP leaders that a five-point demand charter regarding educational and examination reforms will be discussed in upcoming joint meetings.
CJP founder Abhijit Dipke, former MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, and activist Sonam Wangchuk commented on the developments as celebrations broke out among student protesters and Gen Z activists.
