Members of various progressive organisations and the Congress party celebrated the resignation of Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan as a victory for the protests against the NEET-UG paper leak. Congress leaders gathered in front of their office in Shivamogga on Saturday afternoon after learning of Mr. Pradhanās resignation.
They burst crackers, raised slogans in support of democracy and against dictatorship, and distributed sweets to mark the occasion. District Congress Committee (DCC) president R. Prasanna Kumar, former Minister Kimmane Ratnakar, MLC Balkhees Banu, and others were present.
Hassan In Hassan, members of progressive organisations assembled at Hemavathi Statue Circle to celebrate the occasion. Representatives of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] and the Dalit Sangharsh Samiti (DSS) joined the celebrations. The studentsā protests had succeeded in pressuring the Centre into securing the Ministerās resignation, they said.
CPM leaders Dharmesh, Naveen Kumar, DSS leaders and leaders of SFI were present.
